Sustainability
Sustainability to us is thinking long term about everything we do. It is about giving back more than we take; from the land and from the community. For too many years this land has been worked hard and stripped of its natural goodness and structure.
Our sustainability journey began when we purchased the farm in 2003. We aim to be good guardians of this land for future generations. Our journey is beginning to gather momentum and has several facets:
- Organics – we will be 100% organic by 2014.
- Waste minimisation – most of our waste is recycled both publicly (during the summer season) and privately (during the off season).
- STAR – We have joined and completed an audit as part of the Sustainable Tourism Advisory Resource
- New Developments – Any new developments will have minimal waste, like re-using the water from the PuddlePad for irrigation & use recycled materials – check out the Corncob Crazy Golf course!
- Planting trees and native vegetation
- Community – We passively support many local charitable organisations and actively provide opportunities for fund raising for Riding for the Disabled (Scarecrow Day), The Independence Games (annual car boot sale), the Child Cancer Foundation and Canteen.
